Birds, Birds, Birds!

2019.07.27 - 2019.10.20

What are birds made of?
Fluffy feather
and wings flying to wherever!

And the colors of their feathers also catch our attentions. The common birds of Japan tend to be conservative, such as sparrows and crows. On the contrary, the birds living in the tropics are very colorful, such as parrots and parakeets. Those tropic birds were shipped to Japan before the 17th century Edo period and fascinated the people as well as the artists.

In this exhibition, we introduce the Japanese paintings related with birds such as infamous chickens drawings of Ito Jakuchu. By comparing the birds in the paintings and the real birds, you will be enchanted by birds.
