Overview of the Exhibition

What kind of works do you think of when you hear the name Takehisa Yumeji (1884-1934)?
Most people probably think of high-coloured women in Western-style clothing or melancholy beauties in kimonos.
However, Yumeji's artistic activities were not limited to this. He was a multi-talented artist who also worked on book bindings, music scores, magazine covers and illustrations, and even wrote lyrics. He used a wide range of painting materials, including oil, watercolour, pastel and pen.

This exhibition will showcase a number of rare original paintings, such as the Seno-o scores, and other works that showcase Yumeji's versatility, divided into the first and second halves of the exhibition.
Please enjoy the wide range of Yumeji's 'handiwork' from his early years to his later years.
