(?-939 C.E.)He was a descendent of Emperor Koko. His rank was low, and he appears in the Yamato Monogatari (Tales of Yamato) lamenting his difficulties. He is included amongst the Thirty-Six Immortal Poets.

山中の里はいつの季節でも寂しいけれど、冬にはその寂しさがいっそう身にしみて感じられることだよ。人の行き来も途絶えてしまい、草も木もすっかり枯れ果ててしまうかと思うと。
The mountain villages have a lonely air throughout the seasons, but in winter they seem a thousand times more desolate. No one passes through these parts during this time, and the grass and trees all wither away?the very thought leaves me melancholy.
